Livia Dark Green · Round Scalloped Placemat | Ars Mensae
Description
Dark green commands without raising its voice. The green of southern shutters, of a bottle held to the light, of deep water: a deep ground that makes white china look whiter and silver worth noticing. It doesn't accompany the table, it holds it.
Round, scalloped and of a serious elegance that suits the whole year, and especially the months when it gets dark early. It dresses an everyday dinner as though there were a reason, and the dinners that matter without asking for effort. For anyone who already owns the neutrals and wants the colour that decides.
And then December arrives. Dark green is the colour of Christmas before anyone hung anything on it: the fir, the holly, the ivy along the mantelpiece. With white china and a touch of gold it needs no ribbon at all — it is the Christmas table that looks inherited rather than laid that afternoon.
